The Grand Duke 1970

The first live stereo recording (with dialogue) of the last Gilbert and Sullivan Opera took place in Lawrence Kansas in 1970. Released on three LPs on the Century label, it was performed by the Mount Oread Gilbert and Sullivan Society during the International Gilbert and Sullivan Conference.

The Grand Duke 1970, digitized and restored audio, with pictures of the original 1896 costume designs/characters by Percy Anderson , and some early photos.

Thanks to Peter Zavon for getting the digital transfer made. The CD was made and is now in the library system.
